Compassion is defined as the wish for people to be free from discomfort. Compassion for ourselves means we want to be free from discomfort. However, the root of compassion is empathy or our ability to sense our discomfort and to accept it. In this meditation, Lama Rod will guide participants through meditation sequences that will support them in developing self-empathy and developing it into self-compassion and finally compassion for others.
Class time devoted to lecture: 11-20 minutes
