Annie Rosenthal Parr has been a professional modern dancer and teacher for 30 years. She specializes in teaching Modern/Contemporary dance, yoga, partnering, and improvisation. Annies Contact class will investigate how the body can move in its most intuitive and authentic way both with and without another bodies physical feedback.

Set to ambient music, the first phase of class will begin on the ground without partners to get the blood flowing, stretch the spine and ground the body in a yoga-esque manner. We will start moving more fully on the ground with a clearly guided improvisational score to eventually build to hands and feet, then standing movement.

The Second phase of class will explore layers of simple contact exercises. This involves physical, sensory listening and learning to relax into one another's ability to safely take and receive body weight.

The class builds into dynamic and playful counter-pulling, pushing and hanging exercises to learn and explore the physics behind the principles of lifting and being lifted. Experience moving to ones fullest range of motion with awareness of the space, placement, and focus to feel freer, creative and powerfully efficient in your body.
Class time devoted to lecture: 5-10 minutes
